My Journal: Laurel Highlands Trail
Pre-hike entry #3
March 19, 2003
There are flies on the horse pies, which means spring has sprung in southwestern Pennsylvania, which means it's allergy season for me again. So I swat with one hand, wipe my shnoz with the other. And wipe and wipe. Where does all that stuff come from? I'm sitting here with a tissue stuffed up my nostrils, so I can type.
So there are six days left until my little trek begins. One of my two hiking partners has cancelled, so it's just me and a guy named Mike, who I've never met. His emails are nice, though. Infrequent, but nice. He's certainly excited about the hike, as am I, but I'm so busy getting ready to move to Arizona and finishing up some projects here on the farm, I've hardly had time to think about it. I'll probably end up shopping for the trip and shoving some things in my backpack the night before I leave. Mike and I have decided to start out on March 25th.
